Pumpkin Fun for Everyone
@ the HCES Library
Dear Families,
This year the library is getting into the fall spirit by having a decorated pumpkin contest of your favorite book character. It’s easy and fun for the whole family. Students may bring in a decorated pumpkin (or gourd) to the school library and enter it into our contest. Pumpkins may be dropped off at the library from Monday, October 29th thru Friday, Nov 2nd during school hours.
Read our contest rules carefully:
· ABSOLUTELY NO CARVED PUMPKINS!!! (They rot quickly) Carved pumpkins/gourds will not be entered into the contest and will be sent home immediately. You may use markers, paints, glue, fabric, etc. Let your creativity soar!
· Pumpkins should represent a favorite book character. On the entry form you must have the title and author of the book written on the form.
· This is a home project and pumpkins should be done mostly by the students but parents may assist.
· Do not write your name anywhere on the pumpkin. When you bring your pumpkin to Mrs. Taylor, she will take your pumpkin and entry form to properly identify it.
· We will have the following categories: K-3, 4-6, and Family Project. Prizes will be awarded for the winner of each category. (The Family Project category is for any family that would like to submit one decorated pumpkin for the whole family or multiple pumpkins representing various characters in the same book. This category might interest families that have more than one child at HCES.)
· Pumpkins may be taken home from the Fall Festival on Friday, Nov. 2nd or on Monday Nov 5th. Any pumpkin remaining on Monday afternoon will be discarded.
Vote for your favorite pumpkin character for 25¢ during the night of the fall festival. This will be for the “People’s Choice” award. This award will earn a $20 Wal-Mart gift card.
